In 2011, Queensland Humboldtian David Teakle received the inaugural AAvHF Distinguished Member 
Award in recognition of his scholarly achievements and for his service to the Association and its ideals. The award was formally presented at the 2011 AAvHF meeting in Sydney, which David could unfortunately not attend due to traveling overseas. The award was presented to David Teakle in person (on the right) by his former Humboldt mentee and long-standing friend Ralf Dietzgen (on the left) on 10 November 2011 during a lunch at the University of Queensland staff club. Davids wife Kathy and QLD AAvHF representative Judith Reinhard were also present.
