NSW members of the AAvHF attended a reception hosted by the German Consul-General Hans G. Gnodtke and Mrs Frances Gnodtke at their home on the occasion of the visit by the DAAD Regional Director Dr Ursula Toyka-Fuong. Suggestions for further collaborations between the DAAD and the AAvHF were discussed by Dr Toyka-Fuong, Dr Andreas Jaeger, Director of Information Centre of the DAAD and Kay Double, the NSW representative of the AAvHF.

A dinner of NSW AAvHF members was organized at La Boheme Restaurant, Balmain to mark the death day of Alexander von Humboldt on May 6th 1859. Nineteen NSW members and partners attended and we were also pleased to welcome a Tasmanian Humboldt Fellow, Prof Jeff Malpas from the School of Philosophy at the University of Tasmania who was in Sydney visiting Prof. Timothy Devinney, another Humboldtianer.
