One of the members of the Australian Association of von Humboldt Fellows, Professor Hans-Albert Bachor AM FAA of Canberra, has received a significant honour, the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. It was conferred on him by Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany H.E. Dr Thomas Fitschen at a dinner at the Germany Embassy on 2nd February.
I know you will all join with me in warmly congratulating Professor Bachor on his well-deserved award. Apart from his internationally acclaimed research in the field of quantum optics, Hans has contributed to building Australian-German partnerships and promoting science to future generations.
